Confirmed COVID-19 cases have now reached two grim milestones: 10 million globally, with over 500,000 deaths. There are, however on the brighter side, more than 5 million recoveries, according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

The U.S. has recorded over 2.5 million confirmed cases, with a death toll of over 125,000.
Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top health expert, warned that some parts of the country are facing “a serious problem” and the White House coronavirus task force is “seriously considering” pool testing for COVID-19.
The WHO’s regional director for Europe said there has been a resurgence of cases as many countries begin to ease COVID-19 restrictions.
Indonesia sees biggest daily rise
Indonesia reported its biggest daily increase in infections with 1,385 new cases, taking the total to 52,812, health ministry official Achmad Yurianto said.
Yurianto also said there had been 37 more deaths, taking the total number of fatalities to 2,720.
Separately, local authorities said that nine people aboard a flight from Indonesia to Cambodia tested positive after reaching Cambodia. Of them, one was Indonesian and eight Cambodians.
Cases in India surge past 500,000
India now has more than 500,000 confirmed cases, according to government figures that showed a record daily leap of 18,500 new infections.
China cases rise
China has reported an uptick in new virus cases a day after national health authorities said they expected an outbreak in Beijing to be brought under control soon.
Australia begin mandatory quarantine
Australian health officials are expecting more virus cases as hundreds of nationals return from overseas to begin mandatory quarantine.
Germany’s confirmed virus cases rise by 687
The number of confirmed cases in Germany increased by 687 to 193,243, data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases showed on Saturday.
Mexico reports 5,441 new cases, 719 more deaths
Mexico’s health ministry reported 5,441 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infections and 719 additional fatalities, bringing the total in the country to 208,392 cases and 25,779 deaths.
Brazil registers 46,860 additional cases, 990 deaths
Brazil registered 46,860 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours and 990 additional deaths, the Health Ministry said.
