Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Sunday reported 15 more Filipinos abroad contracting the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the total to 9,893.

The DFA on Saturday reported that three Filipinos also died in the Americas while 19 recovered in the same region, including in the Asia Pacific and Europe.

The total recoveries and death toll now standing at 5,842 and 725, respectively.

“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of Filipinos who have recovered from Covid-19 slightly decreased to 59.09 percent of the total confirmed cases, while those who are under treatment increased to 33.62 percent,” the DFA said.

Meanwhile, the percentage of fatalities among COVID-19-affected Filipinos abroad remains at 7 percent, it added.

At present, the DFA said the active cases are pegged at 3,326 — about 349 are undergoing treatment in the Asia Pacific, 492 in Europe, 2,326 in the Middle East/Africa, and 159 in the Americas.

“The Middle East remains to be the region with the most number of our overseas Filipinos affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” it said.
