UP Alumni-HK donates to healthcare workers’ protection, pays tribute to Philippine Ambassador Catalla

The University of the Philippines Alumni Association Hong Kong (UPAA-HK) pays tribute to the late Ambassador Bernardita Catalla with a commemorative booklet as well as a donation to the UP-Philippine General Hospital.


Members of the UPAA-HK have remitted a total of HK$32,501 (Php210,281) to UP-PGH Covid-19 Bayanihan Operations Center in Manila, to be used for buying personal protective equipment for the medical staff who are at the frontline in the fight against Covid-19.

Ambassador Catalla passed away on April 2 due to Covid-19 complications. She served as Consul General in Hong Kong from 2014 to 2017 before moving to Beirut, Lebanon to take on the Ambassador post.

UP_Alumni pays tribute to Ambassador Catalla
Congen Tejada expressed his gratitude to UPAA-HK for their donations to PGH and for producing a “memorable tribute to a fallen hero”.

The group also produced a commemorative booklet on the late Ambassador Catalla, who herself was a UP alumna and a supportive member of the UPAA-HK. The booklet was presented to Consul General Raly Tejada by UPAA-HK president Sherina Erno and former board member Jeko Abila on April 29.

Congen Tejada expressed his gratitude to UPAA-HK for their donations to PGH and for producing a “memorable tribute to a fallen hero”.
